Deciphering the Black Holes

A group of astronomers proposed a new hypothesis on the growth of black holes. This growth is due to gas absorption. Around it generates a disc and in a spiral, in a process which generally is slow.

Researchers at the University of Leicester (UK) and Monash University (Australia) found that some black holes are growing rapidly and its weight exceeds billions of times the mass of the Sun

Professor Andrew King, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Leicester, explains: "Almost all major galaxies have black holes at their center. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, has a hole of this kind, some four million times heavier than the sun.

We all grew up with an extremely high rate after the Big Bang. These massive black holes were already enormous at the time when the universe was very young, about a tenth its present age. "

Black holes grow by suction gas. Hole is formed around the disk and within it a spiral, but usually occurs so slowly that the holes do not grow to such enormous masses in the universe's existence.

"You must know the secret of a much more rapid growth and we wondered what would happen if the gas comes from different directions," said Chris Nixon at the same university.

The scientists created a computer simulation of the two disks of gas orbiting a black hole at different angles. After a small amount of time units began to expand and collide with each other, giving rise to the fall of large volumes of gas in the hole.

Based on the calculations of scientists, in this scenario, the holes can grow a thousand times faster than normal.

This may explain how these holes become so mass at high speeds. "It is not known how the gas is distributed within galaxies in the early stages of formation of the universe, but we believe that if their motion is chaotic, the black hole saturates very easily."

The two larger holes have been discovered than 10,000 million times the mass of the Sun
