The Comet Elenin may produce greatest meteor showers in history

The unusual Comet Elenin is expected to pass within 21 million miles of Earth on October 16, 2011 and speeding by at more than 85,000 mph—so fast it could travel from Earth to the Moon in less than five hours.

Discovered by amateur Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin in Lyubertsy, Russia on December 10, 2010—who accessed the International Scientific Optical Network's robotic observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico—the astronomical community has erupted with the excited possibility the celestial traveller could generate the most spectacular meteor showers ever recorded.

Although the comet's path is expected to change as it draws closer to the sun, astronomical calculations appear to show Elenin's perihelion occurring well inside Earth's orbit by September 5th.

Astronomers believe the comet will be visible with a good pair of field binoculars about the middle of August. After then it should become visible in the Northern hemisphere's predawn sky with the naked eye.

Comet watchers claim that the huge dust trail behind Elenin might become very bright with the tail glowing across the night sky.

The Earth is expected to pass through the giant tail, and the debris may generate fantastic meteor showers for as long as two and a half months.

Comet generates controversy and conspiracy theories:

Recently, a growing number of conspiracy theories have sprung up around the discovery of the long-period comet. Some are linking its appearance on the other side of the sun to the 9.0 earthquake that devastated northern Japan. Others believe it may fulfill the "prediction" some read into the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012.

A few, with private channels to unnamed professional sky watchers claim the comet's orbit is unstable and may encounter dark bodies such as the cometary debris known as the "Taurid objects." They go on to argue that Elenin carries a huge cloud of material with it and if the orbital path remains consistent the Earth will collide with that debris.

Of course, many astronomers anticipate that happening. It's why there would be astounding meteor showers after the comet's passing.

Elenin's orbital path seems to be constantly changing, however, as it falls inwards towards the sun. As one observer has noted, when Leonid Elenin discovered the comet calculations indicated it would pass by Earth at a distance almost nine times the distance of the Sun. Now, however, recalculations reveal that distance has significantly shrunk to as low as 0.15 AU.

Further perturbations in Elenin's orbital path may be affected by it's passage through the Oort belt—a huge halo of cometary bodies, giant asteroids and debris that encircles the outer solar system.

Villard points out that "The closest ever-recoded flyby of Earth was comet Lexell in 1770, which passed at 1.4 million miles. On Jan. 26th that year a magnitude 9.0 earthquake took place off the west coast of the North America."

Comets and earthquakes again. Could there really be a connection after all?

Although some insist there is a connection ["NASA's Website Accidentally Predicts Another Catastrophic Earthquake in 2011"] virtually all astronomers and geophysicists say no way.

So what can be expected? Well, if all goes right the greatest night time sky show seen in hundreds of years will occur.

NASA proofsThat Comet Elenin Is Affecting Earth

This is going to be the most extraordinary communication so fasten your seatbelts; we are in for a rough ride. I have known in my heart for months that I would have to make a communication like this but had no idea it would be this soon.

Back in January, while investigating the underground city that is alleged to have been built under the new Denver Airport, reported on by the former governor Jesse Ventura, I put the puzzle together and came to the conclusion that a planetary event was in store for us in 2012.

Today I am presenting rock solid information; it does not get any better when NASA is your source. What you are about to read and see is happening. Last night, looking at a NASA mathematical model of comet Elenin, I found out that a large celestial body has already penetrated the solar system and is on course for a near and possibly horrific encounter with the earth in the fall of 2011.

What we do not know is the size and mass of comet Elenin though I have no doubt that it is known by the authorities.

Elenin is presently being tracked as it goes through the asteroid belt on its way into the inner solar system. I am truly sorry to have to be the bearer of such grave and threatening news but the source, NASA, is impeccable. We have an incoming mass (what might possibly be a neutron star) coming in and it will do a hard turn around the sun like any comet would, crossing and coming in between Mercury and Venus before starting its journey back out.

On its way out it will cross our bow, meaning it will pass very close to the earth and the earth will pass behind it, plowing into its tail.

In the video below you will see this explained graphically. What you will see with mathematical precision is that every time this celestial body comes into alignment with the earth and sun we have a huge earthquake.

The last three alignments produced the Japanese 9.0 quake, the one in New Zealand and before that the one in Chile. On March 11th Elenin was much farther out. When the next alignment happens it will be devastatingly close. The main point to understand is that if Elenin was just a normal comet it would not have the mass to generate a gravity pull that would affect the earth when the earth swings around into alignment.

David Morrison, Astrobiology Senior Scientist at NASA, in an official communication on March 1st acknowledged no threat from Elenin. Ten days later Elenin came into alignment with the earth and the sun . . . and Japan was almost destroyed.

Morrison confirmed that Elenin’s perihelion (closest to the sun) is in early September 2011 at a distance from the sun of 40-45 million miles. He said it will be closest to the earth on about October 16, at a distance of about 21 million miles, but he believes there is no reason to think Elenin is any different from a normal comet. I wonder if he changed his mind after March 11th. He dismisses everything alarming as pure fiction.

This is the real deal though—that alignment did happen as we can clearly see from the NASA simulation. Now we have to live with increasing radiation spreading around the northern hemisphere. We know how easy it is for people in authority to cover up information and lie with a straight face.

The Japanese government admitted it kept in secret at least 5000 radiation measurements and assessments after the nuclear event that struck the Fukushima Daiichi NPP in March. This was done in order to not induce panic in the population, a representative of the staff dealing with the nuclear emergency told ITAR-TASS.

We have to acknowledge and accept that there is a danger and a possibility that part of our civilization and the people in it will be lost. This is not a time to deny anything or a time to hold back the tears.

I hope to God I am wrong but the evidence cannot be dismissed casually, though of course it will be. One picture is worth a thousand words and NASA has given us visible proof to suggest Elenin is playing a role in events down here on our planet even from a long distance. It is not a time for fear; rather it is a time for love and cooperation in the context of preparation on all levels for what is to come.

There is a history to Elenin that has been visible for years but now she is upon us and there is nothing we can do but prepare and pray—and love like we have never loved before. We have to acknowledge and accept that there is a danger and there is a possibility that part of our civilization and the people in it will be lost. The below video displays what has been known by NASA for decades.

The whole solar system seems to be heating up, the sun is becoming active and earth-changing events are becoming more frequent and intense with beyond-worst-case-scenario climate changes hitting around the globe.

We have increasing geo-activity, volcanoes, earthquakes, rogue tides, sinking islands, magnetic pole migration, mass animal deaths, huge unexplained whirlpools in the Atlantic and so much more it would make anyone’s head spin.

We were tipped off to something unusual happening when Greenland experienced sunrise two days early, which was a strong sign that something was off with Earth’s orbit. On January 25th I said:

There is a lot of information (except in the mainstream press) about 2012 and the end of the Mayan Calendar that many are obsessing over but there is more than enough in 2011 to worry about and act on. Last week I was knocked off my chair with the report from the Arctic Circle in Greenland that the sun came back over the horizon two days early. That’s no small occurrence, is not something easy to make up, is not being reported as expected in the mainstream press, and only wild and stupid theories like global warming (since we really have rapid cooling) are being blamed for the event.

Next Few Months:

August 3, 2011 marks the time that the earth passes through the brown dwarf perigee position, while the brown dwarf is crossing the earth orbit location. About two weeks pass and on August 18 the brown dwarf crosses the Venus orbit some 67 million miles from the sun.

Then 24 days pass to when the brown dwarf reaches the nearest point to the sun at 44.73 million miles. September 25, 2011 marks the time that the earth passes through the second conjunction with the sun, brown dwarf, Mercury, Saturn and Uranus in line for another gravitational alignment.

This video from the top of a mountain in Japan seems to have caught Elenin on camera.

October 2 is the day that the brown dwarf crosses Venus’ orbit again to begin trekking in the direction of earth. Two weeks go by and the brown dwarf crosses the earth orbit line to pass directly in front of our planet at just 22.3 million miles away, which is the nearest point in our encounter.

The brown dwarf crosses the Mars orbit line on November 14, 2011 on the way to the third conjunction on November 22 where the earth once again passes directly between the two like on March 15.

An approaching brown dwarf star answers a lot of questions about what is happening all around us that others simply cannot begin to answer.

No one really knows what will happen in the fall of this year as this incoming celestial body gets between us and the sun and then rebounds out again and heading directly into earth’s neighborhood.

One person has speculated that it could rip our moon loose. It could hit us if its flight plan is changed by hitting an asteroid in the next few days. That could be possible if it really were a comet, but if it is a neutron star with a large mass, nothing will deflect its ordained path.

If we are lucky, nothing will happen but humanity is not looking or feeling lucky these days.

What seems likely is what most of the ancient cultures and religions remember—huge floods that pass the world over. The only way the world can have a global flood is if there is some event like an asteroid impact, polar shift, or a very dense object passing close by earth that causes a massive tsunami tide. The gravitational pull would grab the water and pull it over the land on a massive scale, much like the moon does today on a smaller scale in the form of tides.

Safe Zones:
1. Move 150+ miles from the coasts.
2. Move 600 feet above sea level.
3. Move away from volcanoes and super volcanoes like Yellowstone in northwestern USA.
4. Move away from earthquake/seismic/avalanche/fault zones like the New Madrid Fault Zone in central USA.
5. Move away from dams that will break.
6. Move away from nuclear power plants that could become compromised.
7. Move away from high elevations where radiation levels will be highest.
8. Move away from large population areas where food riots will escalate into chaos and mayhem.
9. Join into survival groups with people of like mind that have survival supplies, gear and guns to protect them.

There is no shortage of flood legends. The earliest extant flood legend is contained in the fragmentary Sumerian Eridu Genesis, datable by its script to the 17th century BCE.

In the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh there are references to the Great Flood (tablet 11). The best-known version of the Jewish deluge legend is contained in the Book of Genesis (Genesis 6-9).

God selects Noah, a man who “found favor in the eyes of the Lord” and commands him to build an ark to save Noah, his family, and the earth’s animals and birds. After Noah builds the ark, “All the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.”

There are many sources of flood legends in ancient Chinese literature. The Shujing, or “Book of History,” probably written around 500 BCE or earlier, states in the opening chapters that Emperor Yao is facing the problem of flood waters that “reach to the heavens.” According to the Australian aborigines the water covered the land. Only the highest mountain peaks were visible, like islands in the sea.

Will Earthbound Comet Fulfill 2012 Prophecy?

It's nearly 300 million miles away and barreling toward us. The intruder from deep space, called called comet Elenin, crosses Earth's orbit on its inbound leg and again on its outbound swing around the sun later this year.

Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin discovered the innocuous little comet on Dec. 10, 2010, at International Scientific Optical Network's robotic observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico.

Presently the comet is a faint smudge of light in deep sky exposures. By late August comet Elenin should be visible to the naked eye as a dim "fuzzy star" with a tail. Over a few weeks the visitor will speed across the spring constellation Virgo and toward Leo on its outbound leg.

A dizzying collection of doomsday predictions have been linked to comet Elenin. The hysteria was inevitable as anxiety grows over the approach of 2012 -- that is supposedly a game-changing year for life on Earth. At least according to some interpretations of the ancient Mayan calendar.

If you believe the gobbledygook on numerous websites and YouTube videos, this is a "renegade comet" that just couldn't wait for 2012 to mess with the Earth.

Though it's now over twice as far away from Earth than the sun is, comet Elenin has already been blamed for triggering earthquakes and shifting Earth's rotation axis. The comet has also been accused of melting ice on Mars and stirring up a storm on Saturn. It's predicted to flip Earth's magnetic field.

And that's just the beginning. There are numerous "Cometgate" allegations of news media and government cover-up, and the existence of hidden comet shelters for U.S. officials.

The timing of the MESSENGER spacecraft's deceleration in orbit around Mercury last week is also suspect because our innermost planet supposedly "aligns" with the comet's position this month.

Reality Check:

Comet Elenin will sweep nearest to Earth on Oct. 16 at a distance of 21 million miles and be moving fast enough to travel the distance from Earth to the moon in under five hours!

The effects of the comet on Earth at closest approach will be as inconsequential as that of a mosquito slamming head-on into an ocean-going supertanker.

Let's look at the physics. Comet Elenin is a loose agglomeration of volatile ices and dust a few miles across. It is therefore one hundred billionth the mass of our moon. (The relative difference is roughly the same as the mass of a mosquito vs. the mass of an oil supertanker.)

The comet will pass no closer to us than 84 times the Earth-moon distance.

Applying Isaac Newton’s laws of gravity, this means the comet's tidal pull on Earth -- at closest approach -- will be approximately one-hundred trillionth the force of the moon's tidal pull on Earth. And, we all now know that despite the dreaded Supermoon hype last week, there were no monster storms or earthquakes triggered by our satellite's gravitational tug at closest approach to Earth.

What's more, comets get the worst end of the deal when they venture near larger bodies -- just like that mosquito slamming into the supertanker.

Some comets dive-bomb the sun routinely. What happens? They disintegrate into pieces.

The same held true for comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 that was ripped apart by tidal forces when it ventured too close to Jupiter. When the comet pieces plunged into Jupiter in 1994, the planet simply belched a few mushroom clouds from titanic impact explosions.

On May 11, 1983 comet IRAS-Araki-Alcock swept within 3 million miles of Earth –- one of the closest comet approaches in modern times. The visitor looked as big as the full moon and sped across a wide swath of sky in just a few days.

That same day saw an explosion of protests in Santiago, Chile against the decade-long rule of General Augusto Pinochet. Unless you’re an astrologer, the comet's influence was not to blame.

The closest ever-recoded flyby of Earth was comet Lexell in 1770, which passed at 1.4 million miles. On Jan. 26th that year a magnitude 9 earthquake took place off the west coast of the North America.

Similarly, many coincidences will happen this year that people will want to blame on comet Elenin. The most bizarre link is that the comet's closest approach to the sun happens on the 10th anniversary of the combined terrorist attacks on the U.S. "Is it a coincidence that Elenin could be seen as "Elevennine" (9/11 backwards)?" asks one conspiracy website.

In the cosmic scheme of things, comet Elenin is simply a nice target for backyard sky watchers to follow. But Earth as a planet isn't phased at all.

Perhaps the closest approach of comet Elenin to a Main-belt asteroid

Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) is approaching the inside edge of the Main asteroid belt. Close approaches to asteroids is becoming increasingly rare, but May 21, 2011 we were able to photograph one of the most interesting approaches mentioned earlier.

May 21st at 00:52 UT Comet Elenin and asteroid (74732) 1999 RQ176 passed each other at a distance of only 225,830 km, which amounts to 0.59 the average distance between the Earth and Moon.

In addition, based on measurements from those same images, the size of the comet’s coma has exceeded 100,000 km, and probably in reality the coma is still larger, and we could see it on images taken with the largest telescopes. If we were on this asteroid we would have seen a simply spectacular view!

On the image at left, taken 3 hours after closest approach, you can see how close the two objects came. Asteroid 1999 RQ176 is a rather large representative of the Flora family, and has a diameter of about 2.7 km.

In a month and a half, the comet will cross the orbit of Mars reaching a heliocentric distance of 1.5 a.u., and in the opinion of well-known astronomer John Bortle, at that time the fun begins.

Terror Halley's Comet in 1910

Since in 1705 the astronomer Edmund Halley calculated its orbit, the comet named after her name has continued to make regular visits every 75 - 76 years.

The last time could be observed in 1986, a year in which astronomical and technological advances were highly developed. But the time before this, in 1910, was accompanied by a wealth of misinformation, hysteria and doomsday announcements.

The development of events was as follows:

In 1908 Professor Daniel Walter Morehouse discovered a new comet (that now bears his name) and that its tail containing gases, including gas cyanogen.

Cyanogen gas is related to the poisonous cyanide and contact with people is highly toxic.

Prof. Morehouse began a series of talks and lectures in which he spoke of the new comet discovered by him and the harmful gas it contained. Took advantage of these talks to speak of Comet Halley, who is expected between 18 and 19 May 1910.

It was estimated that at that time Earth crosses the comet's tail.

The mixture of different information and confusing the public attending the conference made quickly had the belief that the tail of Comet Halley was the possessor of cyanogen gas.

The rumor began to spread until it reached the press, in need of news impact, began to publish all sorts of conjectures, cartoons and newspaper articles on the visit of the comet and the end of the world.

Much of the population was convinced he would die and the newspapers were happy to produce and publish news about the impending disaster.

But the press did not only economically profitable announcing the end of the world because of Comet Halley. Most savvy entrepreneurs began marketing all kinds of items and souvenirs.

They sell stamps, postcards, silver spoons and countless objects.

The scientific community was quick to assure the public that the passage of Halley's Comet would have no impact on the planet and the health of people, but such was the publicity had made the announcement of the end of the world, that the notice of scientists went completely unnoticed.

Then came the appointed day. Tens of thousands of people around the world waited in fear the passage of the comet with its poisonous tail, and even more fearful committed suicide. But after the passage of Earth through the tail of Comet Halley reached the end of the world, just the atmosphere was filled with a strange sense of light frost.
